How can we work sustainably at our locations?

At wenglor, we take a holistic approach to sustainability

Today, sustainability is more than just a buzzword – it is a central task for the economy and society. Especially in industry, where large amounts of energy and resources are used, responsible action is particularly important. At wenglor, we are also aware that we can only remain successful and fit for the future in the long term if we integrate ecological thinking into all areas of the company.

That is why we have set ourselves the goal of reducing our resource consumption step by step – from product development and production to our buildings, offices and even the foundersClub company restaurant. For us, sustainability is not a project with an expiration date, but an integral part of our corporate culture.

Energy & climate: efficiency that works

Efficient heating and cooling with the geothermal system

Energy efficiency is an important lever for sustainable work. We are continuously optimizing our heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems at our locations, as well as compressed air generation and building insulation. These measures help us to save energy, reduce emissions and at the same time create a pleasant working environment for our employees.

We are also increasingly focusing on our own sustainable energy generation. Our photovoltaic systems at several locations – including in Tettnang, Unterschleißheim and Sibiu – supply clean solar power and cover part of our energy requirements directly on site. This is supplemented by a combined heat and power plant (CHP), which generates electricity and heat at the same time. This allows us to use energy twice as efficiently.

We also take a sustainable approach to heating and cooling. The majority of our buildings are supplied by geothermal energy – i.e. by using natural heat energy from the ground. Ventilation systems with highly efficient heat recovery and humidification and dehumidification functions also ensure an optimal indoor climate.

Our long-term goal: a CO₂-neutralenergy supply. To achieve this, we combine the use of renewable energies with continuous efficiency improvements and process optimization.

Our buildings themselves make a decisive contribution to greater sustainability. By using photovoltaic systems, we generate some of our own electricity and thus actively support the energy transition.

The aforementioned combined heat and power plant feeds the electricity generated directly into our heat pumps. We use the waste heat generated in the process for other purposes, such as heating water or our heating systems. In this way, we avoid energy losses and reduce the consumption of fossil resources.

Geothermal energy rounds off our energy concept: In winter, our heat pumps extract heat from the ground to heat the buildings – in summer, the process runs in reverse and provides cooling. This technology enables us to use energy efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way all year round.

Sustainability in everyday life

At wenglor, sustainability doesn’t just start with building technology – it also shapes our everyday life. In the offices, in production and in the foundersClub, our company restaurant, we consciously make decisions that protect the environment and conserve resources. These include the responsible use of paper, the use of regional and seasonal food and modern mobility solutions for our employees.

This creates a working environment in which sustainability is practiced as a matter of course – not as a duty, but out of conviction.

Our path to a sustainable future

For us, working sustainably means taking responsibility – for the environment, for future generations and for the people who work at wenglor. With innovative energy concepts, efficient building technology and a strong awareness of ecological issues, we are taking steps towards the future every day.

Because we are convinced that technological progress and environmental protection belong together. Only those who act sustainably today can successfully shape tomorrow.
